Matthew G. Hyland completed his doctoral degree at the College of William & Mary. He has been researching and writing about the historic American landscape for over twenty years. His teaching experience reflects his broad historical interests. He has taught a range of public history courses (historic preservation, architectural history) and regional history courses (Pennsylvania history and the American Wild West). Beyond teaching, the scope of his expertise includes grant proposal writing, editing, digital exhibit production, oral history interviews, historic preservation projects, architectural history research and writing, and cultural heritage advising. Matthew Hyland is dedicated to preserving the use-able past as a guide to the future.
